Insurance Policy
We understand that navigating insurance coverage for counseling can be confusing and frustrating. Please know that insurance companies only cover counseling services that they determine to meet "medical necessity." While many insurance providers state that they cover couples or family counseling, they do so only if the insurance policyholder—known as the "identified patient"—has a diagnosed mental health condition that the insurance company both recognizes and chooses to cover.
This means the majority of couples seeking counseling do not meet insurances' criteria for medical necessity and we will not be able to bill insurance or provide the diagnostic codes necessary for individual's to receive reimbursement from their insurance.
